RAWALPINDI, March 4: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Rawalpindi has condemned the house arrest of Pakistan Tehrik-i- Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and MNA Mohammad Hanif Abbasi.
In a statement here on Saturday, MMA leaders Allama Abdul Jaleel Naqvi and Dr Mohammad Kamal said the government had violated the democratic norms by arresting opposition leaders and its activists.
The statement said peaceful protest was a fundamental right of citizens enshrined in the basic law of the land. The statement also condemned the highhandedness of law enforcement agencies against protesters on Friday.
Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan are being subjected to blood-letting and Palestinians and Kashmiris are being denied right to self-determination, the MMA leaders said, adding that Pakistani government was turning a blind eye to the injustices being committed against Muslims.
They also accused the government of acting on the dictates of an imperialist power and neglecting the interests of its own citizens.
