PESHAWAR, March 4: NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman and Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani at a meeting held at Governor’s House here on Saturday reviewed in detail law and order situation in the province and FATA.
The meeting specially discussed the present situation in the wake of the recent untoward incidences that occurred in Tank, Hangu and Peshawar districts as well as Khyber Agency and expressed determination to continue every possible effort vigorously to ensure safety and protection to the life and property of the people.
They appreciated maintenance of peace during the strike held on Friday and described the performance of the law-enforcement agencies as exemplary. However, it was also agreed upon on this occasion that the law-enforcement agencies must have to remain fully conscious in future too not only to bring the miscreants to the court of law but also to ensure well-being of the people as well.
Both the governor and the chief minister while appreciating successful averting the serious situation through mutual cooperation and understanding by the political authorities and the tribal elders which has emerged on Thursday. They expressed the hope that both the political authorities and the people of FATA would further promote their mutual cooperation and the political process would be encouraged through their traditions and jirgas in future as well so as recurrence of such incidences were avoided.—APP
