TV crew packs up

KARACHI, March 2: The ongoing Twenty20 Cup cricket tournament suffered a huge setback on Thursday when a TV channel, covering the event, decided not to telecast remaining matches of the tournament due to bomb explosion in the city.

The explosion created panic among crew members of the Dubai-based TV channel.

The crew, comprising cameramen and technical staff, were staying at a nearby five-star hotel where the explosion occurred.

Fearing for their safety, they thought it best to move out of the city rather than covering the matches.

When the commentators arrived at the National Stadium for the last two preliminary round matches, they found the TV staff packing their cameras and other equipments.

The cancellation of coverage means that Friday’s semifinals and the final on Saturday will not be telecast live.
