PPP observes black day

SUKKUR, Feb 2: The Pakistan People’s Party, Sukkur, observed a black day here on Friday.

The party workers took out protest rallies in different parts of the city and hoisted black flags on their houses against the government.

The rallies were also brought out in Old Sukkur, Thermal Colony and at other places.

The protestors chanted slogans against the government, demanded of the government to allow Benazir Bhutto to return to Pakistan and release Asif Zardari.

KILLED: Zulfiqar Ali Gorchani, 31, a landlord of the Long Khan Gorchani village, was gunned down in his village by unidentified armed men on Friday.

Reports said that Zulfiqar Ali and his family members were sleeping in their house, when unknown armed persons came and rang the bell his of house. when he came out from the house the gunmen shot him dead.

No arrest was reported till the filing of this report

Police sources said that Khalida, the sister of Manzoor Ali Gorchani, was killed some six months back over the pretext of Karo Kari and Zulfiqar Ali and his accomplice were allegedly involved in her murder.

He was on bail.

ARREST: The Kotdiji police arrested a man, Munir Hussain, a landlord of the Kasko taluka Kotdiji village for allegedly killing his wife on Friday.

Sources said that his wife Zarina, 25, committed suicide a day before by shooting herself with a pistol. Her husband was not at home.

The cause of the suicide was not ascertained by the police. After the investigation police arrested Munir Hussain and seized a pistol from his possession.

SUICIDE: A landlord, Dur-e-Ali Shah committed suicide by jumping in the Nara Canal RD-96 near Salehpat on Friday.
