PESHAWAR, Oct 16: The NWFP minister for Auqaf and Social Welfare, Qari Roohullah Madani, has said there is no ban on expressing the views and feelings but damaging properties through processions and demonstrations was not necessary.

Speaking at a gathering of Ulema and Nazimeen at Hangu, the minister said the loss of property and precious lives in such processions could not be either compensated nor anybody could accept the responsibilities of such losses.

“Heavy responsibility lied upon the shoulders of Ulema and elected representatives to guide the people and not to provocate their feelings as anti-state and subversive elements were their to exploit such occasions and thus inflict heavy losses to us. He said the nation could not afford to isolate itself from the world community and become the victim of wars. Hence the decision of Gen Pervez Musharraf to support world community was according to the national interest.

The minister said India tried to target our installations and interests by offering its military might to the US but Pakistan foiled that design. He said the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan for Afghanistan and Ummah were undisputed, adding that Pakistan was still helping Afghan women, children and patients besides ensuring our progress and prosperity.

The gathering was also addressed by Pir Haider Ali Shah, Nazim of Hangu, Maulana Abdul Wahid and Maulana Khurshed Anwar Jawaddi who lauded the role of the government for upholding national interests and assured their full cooperation.
