KARACHI, Feb 16: The President of the Pakistan Community Ittehad, Javaid Aslam, on Thursday demanded of the government to form an inquiry committee to probe into allegations of corruption at the Pakistani Embassy in Greece and to send a team to Greece for inquiry into the incident that took place in Athens in Greece in mid July 2005.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, he said a huge amount of money was collected in Greece for the people affected in the Oct 8, 2005 earthquake, but the Pakistani Embassy in Greece issued no receipts of the money to the depositors.

He alleged that some staffers of the embassy were involved in corruption regarding funds raised by Pakistani citizens living in Greece.

Referring to the case of 28 Pakistanis abducted in mid July 2005 by British and Greece intelligence agencies, he alleged that the Pakistani Embassy in Greece had showed indifference and irresponsibility to the sufferings of its own citizens.

He tried to justify his statements in the light of the news disseminated by local and international news channels.

He demanded of the Government of Pakistan to take notice of the problems faced by Pakistanis living in Greece and what he called the harsh attitude of the Pakistani ambassador there towards with his own people.—PPI
