KARACHI, Feb 16: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman on Thursday directed all departments to ensure completion of their respective development schemes, initiated under the Annual Development Programme, by the end of June.
Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the pace of development schemes under way at provincial and district levels, he said important projects must be updated and the identification of priorities, apportionment of funds and execution of schemes should be done under an effective system based on rules and regulations.
Additional Chief Secretary Development Ghulam Sarwar, Senior Member Board of Revenue Syed Anwar Haider, Secretary Works & Services Syed Faisal Saud, Secretary Finance Malik Israr Hussain, Secretary Education Ghulam Ali Pasha and other officials attended the meeting.
The meeting agreed to promote collaboration between departments of Planning & Development and Finance which would assist Department of Works & Services in removing hurdles from the way of the ongoing development schemes.
The meeting decided to take steps in consultation with relevant officials to expedite the pace of development schemes initiated by the departments of Works & Services, Education, Health, Power & Irrigation and Agriculture.
Formulating rules and regulations for procurement system also came under discussion.
Secretary Local Government M. Ishaq Leghari said that a meeting of all Sindh DCOs was being held on February 18 to chalk out a strategy for the smooth implementation of projects.—PPI
