TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 10: The Saddar police arrested on Thursday night 30 political activists belonging to Punjab Forest Minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman and former district nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq groups.

Tension between the workers of both ruling party groups led to a scuffle at Chak 387-JB, Allahyar, after the funeral prayer of a youth. Some activists suffered minor injuries in the clash after which both parties gave applications to police for legal action against each other.

They were called by the Saddar police SHO and detained in the police station. The 15 arrested activists of Dr Ashfaq group were led by union council naib nazim Asif Saeed while the same number of arrested persons belonged to Chaudhry Ashfaq group, which was led by former union council nazim Tahir Pervez Anjum.

According to a police official, they were booked under section 107 and 151 of PPC to prevent them from further clash.

Meanwhile, a judicial magistrate released all the 30 people on bail on Friday.
