GILGIT: Bubar village in District Ghizer of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), which was devastated by floods in July last year, has been rehabilitated.
GB Chief Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani in a statement on Friday said the village had been successfully rebuilt with the support and concerted efforts of the federal government.
In July last year, flash flood in a nearby nallah had created disaster in the village. Dozens of homes were damaged and at least five people, including four women were swept away in the flash floods.
According to the GB chief secretary, a total of 62 new state-of-the-art pre-fabricated houses had been constructed, providing safe and comfortable living to the villagers. These homes are equipped with modern amenities to enhance the quality of life for the residents.
To improve connectivity and accessibility, a seven-km-long metal road has been constructed, ensuring that the villagers can travel safely and efficiently to and from the village.
Bubar Village has undergone smart land development, incorporating sustainable and environment-friendly infrastructure to ensure the village’s long-term resilience and adaptability to future challenges.
The government, he said, had introduced a water supply system, utilising technology to lift water from the nearby river and provide clean, potable water to every household in the village.
