LAHORE: The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) suspended two employees from service over corruption charges after the incident went viral on social media.

Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Professor Dr Muhammad Al Farid Zafar took notice of the incident when it came to the limelight on social media.

A spokesperson for the LGH said the hospital administration issued a notification of suspension of the employees, namely Nasir Ali and Masood Ahmed.

Prof Zafar also formed a committee to investigate the complaint related to the allegation of extorting money from patients to get the ultrasound done at the hospital where the facility was free of cost.

Dr Muhammad Shabbir, Dr Laila Shafiq and Dr Javed Mumtaz are among the members of the committee to be established under the chairmanship of Prof Qamar Ashfaq Ahmed. The principal said if the allegations in the investigation report proved to be true, more departmental action would be initiated against the employees. He said both CT scan machines were functional at the hospital and around 100 patients were being scanned daily in emergency for free.
