CIVIL DEFENCE

CIVIL DEFENCE: The Department of Civil Defence primarily deals with immediate emergency conditions, provision of necessary utilities in case of disaster, and assistance to law-enforcement agencies when needed. Despite its meagre resources, the department in the province of Balochistan is working effectively and diligently even without enough funds and equipment. The authorities must provide sufficient funds in this regard.

CAMPUS CANTEEN: Smoking is strictly prohibited in public places as it poses a serious threat to the health and wellbeing of non-smokers as well. However, the administration of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, seems to be completely ignorant of this basic fact despite running a ‘medical’ university. Watching people light up both in the canteen and its kitchen is quite a routine. Also, sanitation, food quality and hygiene practices in the canteen on the campus are seriously pathetic. From doctors to patients and attendants, everyone is served unhygienic food. The administration needs to improve the prevailing affairs.

TEST CENTRES IN CHITRAL: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) serves as a gateway to employment opportunities for countless individuals. Unfor-tunately, due to the absence of test centres in Chitral, local aspirants are compelled to travel to other

areas for the purpose. The expenses associated with travel, accommodation and other related costs are often unaffordable for many aspirants. Additionally, the time and effort required for traveling can be better utilised for test preparation, whic will lead to better performance and outcome. The KPPSC should address this issue promptly and establish a test centre, if not more, in Chitral.
