KOHAT: The police on Monday arrested a man for attempting to assault a minor girl in Mirbashkhel area here.

SHO Riaz Mohammad Shaheed police station Shah Doran told Dawn that the accused had attempted to rape a seven-year-old girl. However, he said the girl managed to escape from the man’s room and reported the incident to his father.

He said that the minor girl told his father, Mukhtiar Ahmed, that accused, Zoheb had allegedly taken her to his drawing room forcibly and tried to assault her. However, she said she resisted his bid and ran out.

He said that later, her father reported the matter to the police.

SHO Shah Doran said that the police raided the area on the girl’s identification and arrested the accused. He said that the accused had been handed over to the investigation branch.

Meanwhile, SHO Shah Doran said that a police team arrested power thieves and drug peddlers during an operation.

He said that the police recovered 908 grams of ice drug from Taj, Fazal and Wali, belonging to the Togh town.

The SHO said that a pistol was also recovered from Asim Shah. He added that an electricity thief was also arrested with the help of Peshawar Electric Supply Company officials.
