LAHORE: The Bengalis going to Bangladesh will be free to take their belongings, including some ornaments, with them, according to the Chairman of the Prisoners of War Repatriation Committee, Maj-Gen Q. A. M. Mirza. Gen Mirza said that Pakistan was prepared to receive Pakistani prisoners of war within two days’ notice and she could receive up to 2,000 POWs daily from Wagah border. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from New Delhi,] fifteen persons were killed in a cracker explosion today [Sept 16] in curfew-bound Imphal, capital of Manipur state… . Police said the explosion occurred when crackers kept in a house caught fire. Thirteen people were killed on the spot. … A curfew was imposed … on Imphal when two persons were killed … in incidents following the alleged molestation of a woman… . … Foreign correspondents have been barred for some years from Manipur … where a guerrilla movement has been seeking independence from the Indian federation.
