MUZAFFARGARH: A robber was injured in ‘firing by his accomplices’ here early on Wednesday morning near Rohilanwali Attari petrol pump.

Rohilanwali police said a team was on its way after recovering two motorcycles on the indication of suspect Shakeel. They said three of his accomplices opened fire on police van near Attari pump in a bid to get him released. The suspects managed their escape taking advantage of the darkness while Shakeel was injured in firing by his accomplices. The police vehicle got damaged in the firing.

A police spokesman said Shakeel was on physical remand in more than 10 cases of robbery. As many as 47 cases of theft, robbery and other crimes were registered against Shakeel. Further investigation is under way.
