BAHAWALPUR: Three people were injured in the inclement weather conditions as a strong windstorm and rainfall lashed Lodhran, Bahawalpur and other parts of south Punjab.

According to Muhammad Safdar of 1122 Lodhran, the windstorm hit the region at the speed of over 70 miles per hour.

Three persons, Tahir, Humaira and Meerab, were injured when a temporary shade under which they were taking shelter fell on them during the windstorm near Bindra Pulli on the Multan Road. After the first aid, they were shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).

The strong windstorm followed by rain hit the area, uprooting trees and electric poles at many places, including Yazman and Cholistan. The windstorm plunged several areas into darkness.

The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) said 105 feeders tripped due to rain and windstorm in three circles of Bahawalpur, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan. It added that the company’s teams were busy restoring electricity in the affected areas.
