DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Former MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Sheikh Yaqoob on Friday resigned from the party over the May 9 mayhem.

In a video statement uploaded on social from abroad, Mr Yaqoob condemned the May 9 vandalism.

He claimed the Pakistan Army was their ‘red line’ and they couldn’t tolerate aggression against national institutions for ‘petty political purposes’. Mr Yaqoob was seen as a strong contender for the party ticket from NA-39 here.

He said following the ‘heartbreaking’ events of May 9, he couldn’t be a part of a party that was ‘involved’ in attacks on national institutions.
