LAHORE: A three-day Jashn-i-Jaun Elia opened at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall on Friday.

The writers, intellectuals and poets, including Iftikhar Arif, Attaul Haq Qasmi, Kishwar Naheed, Manawar Saeed, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Hammad Ghaznavi attended the event.

Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir was the chief guest in the opening ceremony. Among the highlights of the event was a documentary emphasising the significance of an Urdu language website, Ishqabad.

Mr Mir speaking on the occasion held the organisers in high esteem for organising the event. Praising Jaun Elia, the minister said he had his particular style of poetry. He said the events like Jashn-i-Jaun Elia were instrumental in promoting Urdu language and literature.

Poet Abbas Tabish expressed gratitude to all the esteemed guests, particularly acknowledging the invaluable support of Provincial Minister of Information and Culture Amir Mir for the Ishqabad website.
