LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has revised and fixed the polling date for by-elections to NA-108 and NA-118 on May 28.

Earlier, the electoral exercise was to be held on April 30, the day as the general elections for the Punjab Assembly were to be conducted. However, the ECP postponed the elections for both NA constituencies and the Punjab Assembly.

District returning officers and returning officers of NA-108 (Faisalabad) and NA-118 (Nankana Sahib) have issued final lists of candidates and polling schemes.

Candidates for NA-108 include Farrukh Habib from the PTI, Muhammad Sajjad Akhtar Qadri from the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan, and Khurram Shahzad from the Pakistan Nazriati Party.

The number of registered voters is 511,587, with 273,032 male voters and 238,555 female voters. At 354 polling stations, 558 male and 526 female polling booths will be established.

There are 281 highly sensitive, 41 sensitive and 32 normal polling stations declared in the constituency. To ensure a smooth polling process, 354 presiding officers, 1,084 assistant presiding officers and 1,084 polling officers have been appointed.

For NA-118, four candidates are in the fray: Ejaz Muhammad Shah from PTI, Agha Muhammad Ali Khan from MQM, Syed Ahmad Zaffar and Faisal Rasheed Bhatti independent.

A total of 443,010 registered voters will exercise their right to vote in the constituency. At 326 polling stations, 460 male and 378 female booths will be established. The constituency has been categorised into 134 highly sensitive, 53 sensitive and 139 normal polling stations. A total of 334 presiding officers, 880 assistant presiding officers and 880 polling officers have been appointed as polling staff for duty at polling stations in the constituency.

A spokesperson for the ECP has completed all preparations and made all necessary arrangements for the smooth, transparent and peaceful conduct of the by-elections.
