KARACHI: Epidemic feared

Published January 22, 2006

KARACHI, Jan 21: There is a threat of an outbreak of gastroenteritis in New Karachi due to supply of contaminated water from over two months. Residents of Sector 11-B near Masjid Noorul Islam have appealed to the city nazim to take notice of the issue and save them from health hazards.

The residents said they were facing hardships from the last over 10 weeks due to sewage water seeping into tap water.

They had drawn the attention of the area nazim’s office. Some staff was also deputed to locate the lines from where water was seeping into tap water. They visited the locality before Eidul Azha and made pit holes at places but failed to locate the leakages.
