LAHORE, Jan 18: District Coordination Officer Mian Muhammad Ijaz has ordered immediate removal of encroachments on the Lahore Marathon route and repair of roads.

This he said while presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday to discuss measures for controlling the menace of encroachments.

The DCO said all shops built without the site plan approval should be demolished and the people dumping building material along the roads should be fined.

He said that Town Municipal Officers should submit daily reports about the removal of encroachments. The town officers (regulation) should ensure that encroachments were not rebuilt after demolition. They would be proceeded against in case of violation.

Mr Ijaz said that car dealers parking their vehicles on roads should also be proceeded against for obstructing smooth flow of traffic.

He directed the Data Ganj Bakhsh Town TO (R) to ensure removal of encroachments around the Walled City as these damaged the beauty of Old Lahore and left a bad impression on tourists.
