KHUZDAR: A policeman was gunned down and another injured by unknown armed men in the Nawa Jaffarabad area of Khuzdar district.

Police officials said the incident took place late on Tuesday night when the Eagle Squad personnel were patrolling the area. “Armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on the personnel, resulting in the killing of one policeman on the spot and injuries to another,” a senior official said. Police returned fire, but the attackers fled after the firing.

Police rushed to the site after receiving information about the incident and shifted the body and the injured to the district hospital. The dead policeman was identified as Ziaullah.

It was the fifth terrorist attack over the last four days in Quetta and Khuzdar in which police were targeted. At least 12 police personnel have lost their lives in these attacks.
