TAXILA: Two teenage students lost their lives in an accident on Kamra Road on Tuesday.

Police and Rescue 1122 sources said 19-year-old Abdullah along with his 18-year-old classmate Rehman was travelling from Attock to Kamra to attend college but when they Teenmela chowk, they were hit by a car.

The driver managed to escape from the scene. Later, police handed over the bodies to family after necessary formalities.

Robber arrested

A robber was arrested in injured condition after a brief encounter with police on a heavy mechanical complex (HMC) in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to a police spokesman, three masked men armed with pistols riding on a motorcycle snatched a mobile phone and cash from Afzal and escaped.

As the victim made a call to Rescue 15, a team of Taxila police led by Station House Officer Sarmad Ilyas intercepted the robbers near canal. After a brief shoot out, one of the robbers was injured while two of his accomplices managed to escape.

The SHO said that the arrested robber was identified as Hazrat Khan - an Afghan national. He said that the suspect was earlier arrested many times for his involvement in street crime.

He said that a motorcycle was also found from the crime scene and a hunt was launched to arrest the remaining suspects.

Responding to a question, he said that the injured robber was out of danger and was admitted to the local hospital in police custody.
