ADP boycotts dist council session

DADU, Jan 31: The members of the district council, Dadu, belonging to the Awam Dost Panel boycotted the district council session and held a demonstration in front of the district council hall on Thursday to protest against the convener of the council for not allowing the members from the Awam Dost Panel to voice the problems of the people. They also took out a rally from the district council hall to the local press club.

They were led by the members of the district council, M. Paryal Birhamani, Nazim, UC Sindh University Jamshoro, Naima Baloch, Nazim, union council Johi town, M. Usman Jamali, Sikandar Rahpoto, Ameer Ali Selhole, and PPP District Chief Rafique Ahmed Jamali.

Later, addressing a press conference, M. Paryal Birhamani, member of Zila Council Dadu from the Awam Dost Panel, said that they had complained against some corrupt officials of various departments during the last session but the Naib Nazim was providing them shelter and was not issuing them showcause notices.

Sikandar Rahpoto Nazim, UC Talti alleged that some close relatives of convener Naib Nazim district council, Sadaqat Ali Khan Jatoi, were stealing irrigation water from Talti and other waterways originating from the Dadu canal in Bhan Saeedabad irrigation sub-division.

M. Usman Jamali, Nazim union council, Johi town, said that thousands of residents of Kachho and hilly areas were suffering from a skin disease, Cutaneous Leishmaniasis, since the last few months but the officials of the district health department were not providing the medicines required.

They said that they had tried to complain against the EDO, Health, and other officials. But the Naib Nazim did not allow them to discuss it.

Ms Naima Baloch, Nazim, union council Jamshoro alleged that former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi had embezzled millions of rupees through various development schemes and had returned home through some secret deal with the government.

Meanwhile, the convener of Zila Council Dadu, Sadaqat Ali Khan Jatoi, told newsmen that some of the members were not talking on the agenda.

He said that he as convener had told them to first speak on the agenda and later they could speak on the matters of the district but they staged a boycott.
