CHINIOT: Two suspects were arrested by Chiniot police after they were injured in separate encounters on Sunday.

In the first incident, a City police team, headed by SHO Muhammad Afzal, was patrolling near Ibrahim Town of Chiniot city at night when unidentified suspects opened fire on the van, forcing it to stop. The police retaliated and a brief gun battle started. When the firing from the suspects’ side stopped, the police found one of the suspects injured. The injured suspect was identified as Ghulam Hassan alias Ghulam, a resident of Shamsal Hassan Town of Chiniot.

On the same night, a police team signaled four motorcycle riders near Chak 22/JB, Qazian, to stop but they fled towards the link road. The police chased the motorcyclists who took shelter in the crops and opened fire on the police. After the firing, police found an injured suspect, later identified as Nasir Ali, son of Khan Muhammad Haral, a resident of Thatta Karam Shah.

Ali told the police he and his accomplices were going for highway robberies. Saddar police registered a case against the suspects.
