Whoever told you that you can’t chase your dreams or pursue a new degree at an older age, got it all wrong. Take a cue from Mohammad Hafeez, former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, who has decided to continue with his education as he pursues a degree at the University of Karachi’s Health, Physical Education and Sports Science department.

The university’s public relations team said that the former captain has enrolled in the Health Physical Education and Sports Science department and will begin his studies this year. The cricketer also met Dr Basit Ansari, associate professor and chairman of the department and Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

Hafeez told the vice chancellor that he has decided to continue his education because he was unable to pursue it earlier as a full-time athlete. Now, he believes he has the perfect opportunity to complete his education.

VC Iraqi welcomed the cricketer and said the young generation must participate in sport activities that benefit their mental and physical well-being. He lauded Hafeez and said the students have a lot to learn from his cricketing experience.

The former captain of Pakistan cricket team, who is also nicknamed ‘The Professor’, retired from international cricket in January, however, he said he would continue to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and other cricket leagues. He parted ways with the Lahore Qalandars last year and it’s still uncertain which team he will play for in this year’s edition of the league. PSL season 8 commences from February 13 starting with a match between the Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars in Multan.
