Policeman killed in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD: A policeman was killed and his colleague injured when a rock fell on them near their place of duty in Jhelum Valley district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday.

Head Constable Rashid Hussain and Constable Basit Shabbir of Rangers Police were repairing the water supply line to their check post in Naili village, on the outskirts of district headquarters in Hattian Bala, at about 9:30am, when they met the tragedy, Station House Officer (SHO) Liaquat Hameed told Dawn.

The deceased official belonged to the Kumi Kot area of Muzaffarabad where he will be laid to rest with full honours on Wednesday, the SHO said.
