SWAT: An assistant sub-inspector on Friday turned himself to the Mingora police over the murder of a young man inside a police station a few days ago.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Faizullah had shot dead a young man, namely Ubaid Khan, inside the Banr police station after he was arrested by policemen in plain clothes on suspicion of trafficking drugs on January 24.

The incident had sparked anger among the locals, who turned to social media, demanding the immediate identification and arrest of the policeman.

After the incident, a Joint Investigation Team was formed into the murder of the young man at the police station. However, on Friday, ASI Faizullah surrendered himself to the police and presented himself to the JIT at the Mingora police station.

According to Mingora police, the weapon used in the murder was also recovered from the ASI. Three other policemen involved in the murder have also been arrested. The police said that further investigations were underway into the case.
