ROADS IN DISREPAIR

ROADS IN DISREPAIR: The condition of roads in Ubauro town of Ghotki district is rather pathetic. Floods have washed away a number of roads, and those that are left happen to be in a state of utter disrepair. It has become impossible for people to take their ailing relatives to hospitals because of innumerable potholes on roads. The roads need urgent repairs.

SCHOOLS AND CATTLE-FARMS: The students in Kashmore are in a fix as just about all schools in the area have been turned into cattle-farms for the local elite. Besides, the construction of a degree college in Kashmore has abruptly stopped for some unknown reasons. Corruption, favouritism and nepotism seem to be the only laws applicable in Kashmore where people’s wait for some action by the provincial government seems to be never-ending.

DACOITS’ RULE: The Kacha area in Larkana has become a safe haven for dacoits. In a recent video that went viral on social media, a dacoit can be seen, even identified, beating a child after subjecting him to abuse. In another incident, five men travelling to Shikarpur were kidnapped by bandits, who demanded ransom for their release. While all this is happening, the law-enforcers appear to be silent spectators.

PENDING SALARIES: Teachers recruited by the Sindh government back in May 2022 continue to be deprived of their basic right; salaries. Along with my counterparts, I have been waiting for my salary for almost eight months now. Before being a teacher, I was working in the private sector and was able to run my household smoothly. Now, with mounting inflation and no salary, it is impossible to survive. The education minister should look into the matter and order the disbursement of the pending salaries.
