SWAT: Malakand Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai on Thursday ordered early installation of night vision cameras at Swat jail and strengthening its external security.

He issued the orders during his visit to the Swat jail along with Deputy Commissioner Junaid Khan. On the occasion, they reviewed the internal and external security of the jail, met the inmates and listened to their problems.

They also inspected the facilities in the sports arena, checked the quality of food items and menu for the inmates. They visited the detox and rehabilitation centre and reviewed the measures taken for counseling of prisoners.

The officials inspected the vocational training centre, the ongoing classes in the Juvenile Correction School and talked to the teachers, children and inmates.

The commissioner and deputy commissioner also met the medical and other staff in the jail hospital during the inspection of the OPD and inquired about the wellbeing of the patients admitted to the wards.

Deputy Superintendent Syed Rahim Shah informed them that the construction of a retaining wall and jail road as well as the installation of night vision cameras were in the process.

The commissioner issued orders to ensure progress on the installation of night vision cameras and construction of a retaining wall and road.

He also ordered the administration to increase the external security of the jail. The deputy commissioner directed the jail authorities to send a plan to the district administration to organise a sports gala for the prisoners.
