Two men shot dead

SUKKUR: Armed men riding a motorcycle shot dead two persons near the Govt Girls College in Karampur town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Monday.

The area police said that Sajjan Sabzoi and his friend Mir Mohammad Jafferi, also riding a motorcycle, were attacked by unknown assailants, who drove away after committing the crime.

They said Sabzoi died on the spot and Jafferi was rushed to a Sukkur hospital but he succumbed to his wounds on the way.

100kg hashish seized

The excise police of Sukkur seized 100kg hashish while the consignment was being transported from Peshawar to Karachi by an oil tanker on Monday.

According Rohri excise inspector Qamaruddin Siyal, he and his team on a tip-off, signalled an oil tanker to stop on a bypass near Rohri town. A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted during which packets of fine quality hashish were found concealed in secret pockets of the tanker, he said, adding that the total recovered quantity came to 100 kilos.

The vehicle was impounded and its crew, Akbar Hussain Afridi and Sirajuddin Afridi were arrested.
