LOWER DIR: A youth was killed when he resisted a robbery attempt on the Chakdara Bypass Road here on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Izhar of Naway Kallay area of Batkhela.

He told the Chakdara police before being expired that unknown persons stopped his car forcibly and snatch Rs15,000 and a mobile phone from him. He said the men opened fire on him when he tried to resist them, leaving him seriously injured.

He said the gunmen escaped after snatching the money and his mobile phone. The injured was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Chakdara, from where he was referred to a hospital in Peshawar. However, he succumbed to injuries on the way.

The Chakdara police registered a case on the report of his father, Mohammad Amin against unknown robbers and started further investigations.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Gul Azim Khan of Shahikhel Kotkay died when a rolling rock struck him in a mountain in Zardali Banda area.

Another man, namely Shah Islam, was injured in the incident, who was brought to the DHQ Hospital, Timergara.
