KARACHI: A fisherman was shot dead and another wounded when unidentified assailants fired at their launch from their boat in the open sea in Jiwani, Karachi police said on Wednesday.

Docks police officer Akhter Sagheer said that the fishermen left Karachi on Nov 2 for a 43-day fishing tour in a launch. They were in the open sea at Jiwani when unknown persons fired at them on the night of Dec 5, injuring two fishermen.

The launch owner, upon contact, asked them to come to the shore in Karachi for treatment.

The police said that both injured fishermen were brought to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi after 48 hours of the incident on Tuesday night.
