ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has secured an ‘ISO 27001’ certification for its ‘robust cyber resilience and effective measures to secure data,’ a press release by the authority has said.

ISO 27001 is an internationally recognised standard for information security management systems. It is awarded to organisations with resilient and effective systems in place to secure critical data such as financial information, intellectual property and employee data.

Nadra is now an ISO:27001 certified entity in ID card printing, networks and communications, infrastructure and information security departments, according to the press release.

The authority has recently received the certification in recognition of its ‘exceptional commitment’ to protecting and safeguarding information assets, the press release added.

Nadra Chairman Tariq Malik has congratulated the authority and said the certification reflected that systems in place to manage ID assets were governed by international standards.

He added the certification was a “testament to Nadra’s commitment to ensure that security processes and procedures are in compliance with international best practices.”

“This further reinforces Nadra’s commitment to maintain security and integrity of citizen’s data and validates the security built into the application design and processes,” Mr Malik said.
