TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 1: Gojra Union Council No 12 nai TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 1: Gojra Union Council No 12 naib nazim Sarfraz Rahat Maseeh has warned that if police did not register a case against tehsil nazim Chaudhry Asad Zaman Cheema and his accomplices for his alleged kidnapping, Christian councillors and leaders will stage a protest demonstration on Monday (today).

The naib nazim, flanked by minority councillors, alleged at a press conference held on Sunday at Gojra tehsil council minority member Finaas Paul Randhawa’s residence, that on the night of Dec 25, Shafqat Cheema, a relative of tehsil Nazim Asad Cheema, along with his accomplices, kidnapped him on gunpoint from his house at Chak 424-JB. The accused took him to Jhang by a car where Asad Cheema and Gojra tehsil naib nazim candidate Islam Abid also joined them, he said.

Sarfraz said the accused then took him to Shafqat Cheema’s outhouse at Chichawatni where he was kept in confinement till Dec 28 when he was brought straight to Gojra TMA hall.

He alleged that in the hall he was forced to vote for Islam Abid, but he refused and did the contrary.

He claimed that he got his statement recorded with returning officer concerned but no action was taken against the accused. He also submitted an application to Gojra ASP for registration of a case against the accused, but the officer allegedly refused to entertain his request.

Sarfraz Maseeh warned that if the case was not registered even after Monday’s demonstration, Christian community would protest in all districts.
