BAJAUR: The leaders of Ettihad-i-Malkanan Bajaur, an alliance of local elders, here on Sunday called for improving performance of government departments in the district.

Addressing a meeting, they alleged that the performance of several government departments was very poor. The meeting, held in Civil Colony Khar, was attended by scores of elders from across the district.

The participants of the meeting said that the government departments lacked check and balance. Tribal elders Malik Nasir Khan, Malik Fazal Rabi, Malik Sultanzeb, Malik Yousaf Khan, Malik Mohammad Shah, Malik Abdul Haseeb Khan and several others addressed the meeting.

They alleged that performance of government departments became poor in the district after merger of tribal areas into the province. They alleged that most of the officials, especially heads, of the public departments were incompetent. They said that most of the officials got the posts on political grounds.

The elders alleged that officials of various departments were not treating equally the residents of the district. They said that such an attitude was unacceptable to them.

The participants of the meeting said specially mentioned the medical superintendent of the district headquarters hospital Khar. They alleged that his performance was extremely unsatisfactory. They also accused him of rude behaviour.

They alleged that the medical superintendent of the district headquarters hospital was an impolite person. They said that he was not suitable for the post of medical superintendent as he didn’t know how to deal with people.

They also blamed the medical superintendent of the hospital for corruption besides insulting patients and their attendants.

The participants of the meeting urged the government to replace all incompetent officials with experienced, committed and people-friendly ones immediately.
