ISLAMABAD: Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has decided to start LLM programme at its School of Law.

“The QAU is all geared up to start “LLM Program” at “School of Law”. Hats off to team led by Prof Dr. Aziz Ur Rehman,” QAU registrar Raja Qaiser tweeted on Wednesday.

He also shared a notification, which stated that, “the vice chancellor is pleased to approve the recommendations of the Board of Faculty of Social Sciences, for the Programme of LLM (two years) in anticipation approval of the Academic Council”.

When contacted, the QAU registrar said all relevant forums of the university had approved the LLM programme and now, the university would move the case to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for approval.

He said soon after the the HEC’s approval, the university will start the LLM programme, adding that “we have required faculty for starting LLM”.

Meanwhile, he said the QAU also decided to start five short courses at its School of Law.

He said certificate courses in media law, intellectual property law and practice, taxation law and practice, immigration, asylum, refugee law and practice and certificate course in criminal law and practice. The registrar said for starting certificate course, the commission’s NOC is not required, therefore, the university will start offering these course anytime soon.
