ISLAMABAD: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Wednesday arranged the launching ceremony of a research-oriented book titled, ‘G.M. Syed and Dastan-i-Mohabat’ authored by researcher and writer Khadim Hussain Soomro.

Lauding the labour of love done by Mr Soomro, former PPP senator Farhatullah Babar said the book was very important because G.M. Syed was not only a politician, but also a great philosopher, intellectual, mystical soul, social scientist and prolific writer.

“It is very unfortunate that intellectual giants from the smaller provinces are being demonised,” he said.

He said creation of Sindhi Adabi Board was a reminder of his great contributions, among others.

HRCP Secretary General Harris Khalique said G.M. Syed infused Sindhis with a renewed pride in their culture and civilisation.

Noted writer Manzoor Ali Veesrio said the book of Mr Soomro was a vivid description of Syed’s real life, his love for motherland and humanity.

“From this book we learn essential wisdom and insight into the nature of sons and daughters of the Indus Valley civilisation,” he said.

Khadim Hussain Soomro said Syed’s message to the world was of love, integration and reintegration.

Syed spread this noble message through his books and speeches, he added.
