RAWALPINDI: District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control Dr Sajjad Mehmood on Sunday said the District Health Authority (DHA) had shut down 694 premises over violation of the anti-dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs) since January 1.

He said that in collaboration with other departments the authority had registered 3,076 FIRs, issued challans to 7,907 and notices to 15,621 people besides imposing fines of Rs11.86 million on violations of SOPs in various areas of the district.

Dr Sajjad said 4,739 confirmed cases had been reported in the district this year while the number was 6,266 in 2019 and 2,455 in 2021.

Presently, 26 patients having positive symptoms were admitted to the city’s hospitals, including 12 to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 10 to the District Headquarters Hospital and four to the Holy Family Hospital(HFH).

Dr Sajjad said due to decreasing temperatures, dengue fever cases had registered a sharp reduction.
