MIRPURKHAS, Dec 31: The district and sessions judge on Saturday reserved order on a plea for cancelling a pre-arrest bail application of landlord Abdul Rehman Mari in the kidnapping case of eight family members of Manu Bheel till Jan 5 after hearing arguments of state and defence counsels.

Mirpurkhas DIGP Saleemullah Khan also appeared in the court.

ADDS: The application for cancellation of the bail had been filed by police authorities through the state counsel after Provincial Police Officer Asad Jehangir had been directed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, to ensure recovery of Manu Bheel’s family members.

The apex court had taken suo motu notice of the matter after a Sweden-based human rights activist had written a letter to the court.

The outgoing PPO had appointed DPO Sanghar Ajmal Magsi as the inquiry officer.

Police officials appeared before the apex court on Dec 22 and said efforts were being made to recover the detainees.—Correspondent
