BAHAWALNAGAR: Chishtian Saddar police on Saturday arrested four people and registered a case against 28 a day after they were booked for thrashing a police team during an attempt to occupy a piece of land at Chak-11 Gajyani.

When police reached the site and asked the people to stop their activity, the enraged people attacked it and hit SI Muneeb, ASIs Saeed and Sabir Muneer and constables Azhar and Asif with batons and butts of guns.

The families of the suspects accused police of implicating them in a fake case at the behest of their rivals. They demanded the IGP launch an inquiry.

The FIR, registered on complaint of ASI Muhammad Afzal, said that on Nov 16, a police team, including ASIs Muhammad Afzal and Azizul Rahman and constables Falak Sher and Afzal, raided the shop of Kashif and arrested him with 250 gram charas.
