KARACHI, Dec 27: The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has provided a matching grant of Rs90 million along with the private sector companies, which contributed around Rs240 million for the victims of the October 8 earthquake of Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
The Pakistani companies had been using their resources to provide shelter, water, medical services, communications, and transportation facilities to assist the affected communities in earthquake areas.
With the IFC’s matching grant of Rs90 million and the private sector companies contribution of Rs240 million from their own resources, a total of Rs330 million has been mobilized for the relief of the earthquake victims.
The companies involved in the relief programme with the IFC are: Dewan Group, Packages Ltd, House of Habib, Liaquat National Hospital, Sui Southern Gas, Pakistan Petroleum and Orix Leasing, says a press release.
