TAXILA: The Punjab government has approved rehabilitation of 21 different schools across the district Attock with an allocation of Rs88 million during the current fiscal year.

The schools buildings have been declared “dangerous” by the district government.

Briefing newsmen about the project on Wednesday, President Attock district chapter PTI Qazi Ahmed Akbar said work on 21 different schools across the district especially those which are located in far flung and remote areas would be executed during current fiscal year under Annual Development Plan (ADP) and necessary funds have been released by the provincial government to the Punjab building department.

While giving details, he said that work in six different shelterless schools would be carried out with an allocation of Rs29.80 million.

He said among these schools four are located in the remote and far flung areas of Jand, one each in Hazro and Fatehjang tehsil.

He said missing facilities costing Rs9.80 million would be provided in four different schools in Hazro, Hassanabdal, Pindigheb and Attock tehsils.

He said reconstruction of classrooms with an estimated cost of Rs 10 million would be carried out in two schools one in Jand and Hassanabdal.

He said these buildings were declared dangerous by the building department and no academic activities were carried out in these classrooms and students had to attend classes in the open.

Mr Akbar further added that work on seven schools where building was declared “partially dangerous” by the building department would be carried out with an allocation of Rs10.20 million.

He said among these schools three are located in Attock, two each in Pindigheb and Hazro tehsils.

He said construction of additional classrooms worth Rs15 million would be executed in two schools.

Qazi Ahmed said that for the provision of better higher education facilities in the Hazro town, the Punjab government has allocated Rs19.98 million for construction of boundary wall and other facilities at Government Shuja Khanzada Associate College and work is scheduled to be completed during the current fiscal year. — DAWN
