TAXILA: World space week was observed at Cadet College Hasanabdal on Wednesday.

This year the theme of the week was “space and sustainability” which aims to promote unique leverage in space outreach and education and for the first time a large number of schools and colleges including women colleges of twin cities of Taxila, Wah and Hassanabdal participated in the event.

Various mega space-themed competitions in the art of literature, aero-modeling, computer programming, model making, space technology innovation and applications with astronomically wide scopes were held during the event.

According to the Cadet College Hasanabdal Principal retired Brig Nasir Saeed Khattak, around 600 participants including females from 33 different educational institutions participated in various competitions.

Mr Khattak added that the week was observed in pursuance of United Nations declaration of Oct 4 to 10 as international week of space aimed at

celebrating and acknowledging the contributions of Space Technology towards betterment of humankind.

He said that the events to be organised during the week would be dedicated to inspire, and familiarize the school and college level students about the importance and applications of Space Science and outreach through innovative and engaging initiatives.
