MUZAFFARGARH: Secretary Education South Punjab Dr Ehtesham Anwar has taken notice of unsatisfactory results of ninth grade annual examination 2022, organised by the Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur education boards.

According to the results recently announced, the pass percentage in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Bahawalpur, was 42.21pc, Multan (49.83pc) and Dera Ghazi Khan result was 49pc.

Fact-finding committees comprising education experts, board officials and teachers have been formed at the divisional level, which will submit their reports to the secretary education south Punjab within three weeks.

The committees will review teaching methodologies, scheme of studies, syllabus, course duration, paper pattern, marking and other issues to find out reasons for poor results.

The seven-member fact-finding committee of Bahawalpur is chaired by Raja Mazhar Hussain, principal Government Higher Secondary School, Abbasia (Bahawalpur) and Abdul Ghafoor Shah, principal High School, Yazman, is secretary. The members include Education Board Bahawalpur Secretary Naveed Khaliq and headmasters of schools.

Dera Ghazi Khan Division fact-finding committee is chaired by Syed Agha Hassan, principal Government Higher Secondary School, 139/TDA, Leh, and Bilal Abbasi is secretary.

The members include Education Board Dera Ghazi Khan Secretary Rehmatullah Buzdar, principal of a secondary school and a senior subject specialist.

Government High School, Mati Tal, Multan Senior Headmaster Aqeel Raza Gardeizi is chairman of the committee in Multan and Ms Tahira Nawaz is secretary. The members include Education Board Multan Secretary Abdul Jabbar, a headmaster, a headmistress and an expert.

These committees will submit detailed reports to the secretary education south Punjab by Oct 24.

Earlier, there were reports that a student of a government boys’ high school and a girl student from Kot Addu committed suicide over their poor results in the examination.

DEAD BODY: The dead body of a 45-year-old man was found in the Indus river near Head Taunsa barrage.

Rescue officials took out the body and identified the man as Amanullah, a resident of Taunsa Sharif, who drowned while catching fish with his friends two days ago. The body was handed over to the family after legal proceedings.
