LAHORE: Agriculture Minister Hussain Jahania Gardezi stressed the need for creating awareness among farmers about modern wheat production technologies to achieve the targets for the next crop.

He said this while chairing the first meeting here on Tuesday to review the crop production strategy in the wake of unusual weather conditions in the country.

The minister ordered assigning of duties to the field staff to create such awareness among the farmers and promote use of approved seed varieties for a better per acre yield.

He ordered provision of standardised agriculture inputs to farmers and asked the DG (extension) to hold a meeting with the irrigation authorities for availability of canal water for wheat sowing.
