BAJAUR: A youth was stabbed to death by his elder brother in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur tribal district on Tuesday.

Residents and Rescue 1122 officials said the incident occurred in Kas Kariwand area. They said Abdullah attacked his younger brother identified as Najeebulllah, 22, with a knife over a petty issue, leaving him critically injured.

Residents said the attacker managed to flee.

A rescue official said the injured succumbed to wounds while being shifted to hospital.

The police have launched efforts to arrest the assailant.

Separately, seven people, four women among them, were injured when rival groups exchanged fire in Nawagai tehsil over a land dispute, rescue officials said.

They said the incident occurred in Ligonai locality.

They said the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Nawagai.

The police have registered case against the rival groups and launched efforts to arrest them.

LAID TO REST: A policeman, who was martyred after gunmen attacked a checkpost in Mamond area on Monday, was laid to rest in his native Ghakhi area on Tuesday.

Earlier, people in large numbers attended the funeral prayers of Rahimullah, 30.

Another cop, hawaldar Fazal Subhan, was wounded in the attack.

The funeral prayers of the deceased were also held at the police lines in Civil Colony, Khar, on Monday evening attended by officials of the district administration and police.
