Music platform Coke Studio has delivered many hits this year, from ‘Pasoori’ by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill to ‘Tu Jhoom’ by Abida Perveen and Naseebo Lal and while the season may have ended earlier this year, the platform is still working on giving us more music and even more entertainment. Their most recent project? A rendition of Queen’s ‘A Kind of magic’ by rapper Eva B and Karakoram. They’ve also just announced that Norwegian dance group The Quick Style will be performing at Coke Studio Live in Dubai.

On Friday, the collaboration between the ‘Rozi’ singer and Karakoram the band dropped on YouTube. A press release described it as a song that marks the launch of the new platform, Coke Studio Global, which provides an opportunity for emerging talent to partner, create and deliver moments of musical magic to new audiences.

International artists Ari Lennox, Griff, Tesher, Mariah Angeliq, Tems, TRI.BE and Ekin Beril have also released their unique versions of ‘A Kind of Magic’ for the launch of Coke Studio Global.

The song was originally written by Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor as an ode to the lead singer Freddie Mercury and his “fertile brain” while describing his creative process as a “kind of magic”.

Eva B and Karakoram’s ‘A Kind of Magic’ was arranged and produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, also known as Xulfi, who produced the latest season of Coke Studio. The latest track has also been produced by Sherry Khattak, mastered by Dave Kutch and directed by Kamal Khan.

But if that wasn’t exciting enough, the music platform took to YouTube and Instagram an hour after releasing Eva B and Karakoram’s song with a clip of the dance group grooving to Hasan Raheem, Talal Qureshi and Justin Bibis’ ‘Peechay Hutt’ as a way to announce that they will be performing at the upcoming event.

The group shot to fame with a viral video of them performing on songs like ‘Kana Yaari’, a Coke Studio song by Wahab Bugti, Kaifi Khalil and Eva B, and Bollywood song ‘Kaala Chashma’, kickstarting a massive TikTok trend.

Their dance video from a wedding racked up 74 million views and their latest endeavour will be dancing at the Coke Studio live show to some of the platform’s popular songs. The group won Norske Talenter, a Norwegian version of America’s Got Talent in 2009. They also appeared at the American talent show two years ago to defend their winning title.

Coke Studio Live will be taking place in Dubai on October 14 and will feature Karakoram, Young Stunners, Faisal Kapadia, Sethi and Gill, Justin Bibis and Raheem and, now, The Quick Style. You can book your tickets now through Coca-Cola Arena Dubai.
