KESC qualify for semifinals

KARACHI, Dec 20: KESC qualified for the semifinals of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II cricket championship by virtue of topping Pool ‘A’ on Tuesday after their game against UBL ended in a draw. There was no play on the final day of the three-day fixture following heavy rain in the wee hours of Tuesday that left the KCCA Stadium pitch and surrounding area saturated.

But KESC secured three points for taking a 77-run lead on the first innings. In their previous matches, KESC defeated DHA and took first innings lead over KPT.

Meanwhile, DHA defeated KPT by nine wickets after Rizwan Saeed and Atif Maqbool claimed nine wickets between them at PCB Academy Ground.

Paceman Rizwan took five for 34 while off-spinner Atif had four for 36 as KPT crashed to 90 all out in the second innings.

Chasing 56, DHA reached 59 for one in quick time to wrap up the match.
