We are in the midst of a national crisis which is a consequence of a global crisis. This year’s monsoon rains have been unusually incessant, resulting in flash floods all over Pakistan. Organisations, governmental and non-governmental, are doing their best to maximise outreach and help as much as possible. Given the urgency of the situation, celebs have started verbalising the need to act, urging their followers to do their part.

With the flood death toll hitting 937 and still on the rise, the government of Pakistan has declared the monsoon rain-induced floods a “climate-inducted humanitarian crisis of epic proportions”. Leaving 30 million people shelter-less, the floods have caused tremendous damage.

Celebrities are using their influence for good and encouraging netizens to donate. Singer and actor Farhan Saeed pushed his followers to “do charity” and spread the message to help “our people” in this time of need.

Actor Ahsan Khan shared a video of a child affected by the floods, expressing his distress with the current situation. He shared the death toll and damage statistics and said, “Let’s help them together!”

Actor Neelam Muneer criticised the leaders who are not taking significant action to help the “homeless, displaced, devastated” flood affectees and asked, “How will they justify themselves in front of Allah Almighty? “

Amar Khan highlighted the severity of the situation and asked her followers to “help in whatever capacity” possible. If not anything, she asked them to raise their hands to pray for them, at the very least.

Cricketer Shaheen Afridi requested all citizens to help and donate as much as possible. “Let us come out of this as a nation,” he said.

Actor Ayesha Omar reposted a video depicting the damage caused by the floods, calling it traumatising. She urged netizens to unite, “All we have is each other. We have to fend for ourselves and each other. We must do EVERYTHING within our means to help our people. Climate change is REAL. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. The time is NOW. HELP HELP HELP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.”

Actor Feroze Khan used a trick to steer the Instagram algorithm and deliver the message to as many people as possible. He asked his people to donate, to start small but start.

The time to act is now. Here is a list of organisations doing their best to provide relief to those impacted by the calamity. Help and do your part.

Besides Pakistani celebrities, the Indian celebrities should also extend help to neighbors. And Pakistan must accept help from Indian people as well as government if offered.

Pray for the displaced but give generously to an ngo or reliable aid organization but Not to a government account. The money or help will never ever reach the effected people.

The model of Governance in my beloved country needed a massive cleanliness, but who will do that? Basics of civilization was misspelled since the beginning, and for the last 40 years’ people in country’s Governance model are just beating around the bushes. Yes, the Netizens defined as citizen of the Net. But what about NDMA, is that institution considered themselves Citizens or Netizens of my beloved country???
