It’s the year of weddings and babies for Korean celebrities. While the world awaits Crash landing on You stars’ Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin’s baby, new couple on the block Gong Hyo-jin of Crazy Romance and singer Kevin Oh are set to tie the knot this October.

On Thursday, news outlets and Korean pop culture site Soompi shared that the couple will host a small ceremony in New York in October as per the announcement sent by The Master’s Sun actor’s management Soop.

“Hello. This is Management SOOP. We would like to share news about actress Gong Hyo Jin. Gong Hyo Jin and Kevin Oh will be starting a new chapter of their lives together. As it is what the two wish for, they will be holding their wedding privately in October with only their close relatives and acquaintances present. We ask for your generous understanding on not being able to share the detailed schedule and location. Please send lots of blessings and support to the couple’s days ahead as they take a valuable first step forward in their lives,” read the statement.

Though the announcement was sent to different media portals, the singer took to Instagram and also shared a photo of a sheet of music followed by a statement of his own. Oh wrote that it would be “respectful” to write in Korean but he preferred his native tongue to share the news in the “best, natural way possible”.

“Two years ago, I met a girl. Our love was full — yes, daunting at times — but we prove to each other… that we need each other. In her, I’ve met my best friend for life, my soulmate. And soon I’ll be able to call her my wife. This fall, we will be getting married quietly in my hometown. I know I’m stealing away an actress who’s received a great deal of love in Korea, and perhaps it would be more fitting to hold the ceremony publicly here in Seoul. But for selfish reasons, I wanted to celebrate in the presence of my family and I hope you understand,” the ‘Memories More Than Love’ singer wrote.

He added that he is blessed to have people like his followers who “allowed” him this dream and that they’ve given him unforgettable moments. “You who’ve carried me through some of my darkest hours with your love and support. You know what I write to you when I signing your letters and CDs: ‘always love and be loved’. You taught me to have courage, to be a better man, to love more. And I have so much more of it left to give you.”

He also announced that he is preparing some new music and will be sharing details soon with his followers and fans.

Hyo-jin on the other hand has not issued any statement. The actor has been seen in hit K-dramas Pasta, The Greatest Love, It’s Okay, That’s Love, The Producers, Don’t Dare to Dream and more.
